Meet Grace

Continuing to experiment with styles and techniques for my foray into comics.

Here’s an image  created by using a color sketch created in Sketchbook Pro, then tracing the image in Illustrator and overlaying the trace on top of the original sketch. Now that I look at it, the large light area on the left side of her head looks a little strange, like she’s balding. But otherwise I like the way it turned out. Looks a little like an old 1920s lithograph to me.

NatureBoy 2012

A tree spirit sits on a tree stump

During grad school in 2006 I created a character I named NatureBoy for a short animation project. Nothing much came of the project other than the exercise of doing a storyboard, then modeling and texturing the character in 3D and doing a (now quite embarrassing but hey, Pixar didn’t hire me as an animator!) 3 second animation of Natureboy hopping off a tree stump.  But I still have most of the story in my head and I’ve been thinking of reusing the character for a comic project.
