Transition Time

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything, illustration or otherwise, so I thought I’d do an update for those who may still read this, or just happen upon this randomly. “Hello? Testing, testing, 1,2,3….is this mike on?”

After a great 4.5 years at Pixar Animation Studios and beautiful California, I am moving upward and onward to be closer to family. I learned so much there and am eternally grateful for the experience. So many wonderful co-workers and challenging projects.

As to the upward and onward, I am starting my own consultancy and coaching service, The Fulgency. I learned so much about how a great company is run during my time at Pixar, and now it’s time to help other creative cultures thrive. Please check out the site. I’d love to help your company or a company you know who might benefit from the service.

All for now…

Dad on a Stamp

I’m spending time in Kansas City with my father who’s on his path to dissolution with terminal cancer. He’s an avid stamp collector so I thought it’d be fun to do his portrait on a stamp. He chose the frame from one of his favorite stamps and I hand drew the whole thing on 8.5″ x 11″ Clayboard.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday and a transformative 2013.

The year in summary for the Seavers? Gabe turned 14 on Dec 1st, something I’m still failing to comprehend fully. He’s still doing well in school, keeping busy with soccer, band, and playing WOW with friends.

As for me, grateful for my job and the beautiful city I get to call home. As you may have seen from various posts, been trying to keep my hobbies of music and sequential art creation going. It’s been wonderful to have cousins and “nieces and nephews” in the bay area and have been taking advantage of that family time as well.

As the year draws to a close, I want to express my deep appreciation for you, my dear friends and family, old and new. May your head by full of peace, your heart be filled with love, and your hands warmed by the joy of service to others this season.

Peace,

Joshua and Gabe
