We had a student Thanksgiving dinner at the apartment. Turkeys are hard to come by, so we had roast chickens. I made mashed potatoes, and we had lots of other food and drink. Good times. And yes, we had leftover chicken sandwiches the next day…
I decided to finally go check out the Adeliade Unitarian Universalist Church which I’d been procrastinating doing forever and was conversing with the woman next to me, explaining what I’m doing in Australia. One of the first things I said was that my school is a building called the Dowie House, named after a famous South Australian sculptor. And her eyes widened and she said “John Dowie, why he’s sitting right in front of you”! And lo and behold, not 2 minutes had passed before there was an announcement from the pulpit during the bulletin time that John Dowie had just been honored with a sculpture to immortalize him near the state library! Mr. Dowie got up and thanked the congregation, etc. And I just thought it was so strange that I happened to be right there, then.
